What is R?
R is a programming language mainly popular amongst programmers working in the data science, quant, statistics, big data, data visualisation, bioinformatics and other areas. R is a free to use and its popularity has increased substantially in recent years.
R-Ladies Cambridge is part of R-Ladies Global, a world-wide organization to promote gender diversity in the R community.
We aspire to inspire, encourage and support women interested in learning or sharing their experience in R programming by hosting a variety of events including talks, workshops.
R-Ladies Cambridge welcomes members of all R proficiency levels, whether you’re a new or aspiring R user, or an experienced R programmer interested in mentoring or networking. Our non-profit, civil society community is designed to develop our members’ R skills and knowledge through social, collaborative learning and sharing.
Membership to R-Ladies Cambridge is free. All are welcome to join us at our events.

Call for R Champions
Be part of R-Ladies Cambridge organising team
R-Ladies Cambridge is looking for individuals to volunteer to become R Champions within their Department, College, Organisation or other identified group to promote good R practices and support other R programmers in their local community. You will also have the opportunity to help organsing events together with R-Ladies Cambridge.
Anyone interested in R who supports the R-Ladies Cambridge mission is welcome to become an R Champion.
By becoming an R Champion you will have the opportunity to:
- network with other R professionals across Cambridge
- attend training events organised by R-Ladies Cambridge
- deliver talks/workshops or help organising other R-Ladies events across Cambridge
- get visibility through our website – a profile will be created for you on our website once you are accepted as an R Champion.
